The first step in the knitting process is selecting the yarn to use. This could be any type of fiber, such as wool, cotton, or synthetic materials. Next, the yarn is wound into a ball or skein, which makes it easier to control while knitting.

Once the yarn is prepared, the next step is to cast on. This is the process of creating the first row of loops and setting the foundation for the rest of the knitting. This is typically done by using a specific technique that creates a series of loops on the needle.

Sample Knitting

Our knitting technicians – in close collaboration with customers and designers – build a custom solution with the best quality and price balance, keeping an eye to future production issues, with a careful assessment of production costs. Sample knitters knit a project from pattern instructions that may not have been tech edited and aren’t yet published. Unlike test knitting, the yarn is supplied by the designer and is the same as that described in the pattern.

Sample approval

This includes selecting the right yarn, choosing the appropriate stitch pattern, and determining the right size and gauge. Once the sample is ready, it is submitted to the customer for review. This can be done in person, by mail, or by email. Based on the customer’s feedback, the knitting team makes any necessary revisions to the sample. This may involve re-knitting the sample or making adjustments to the pattern.
